This months spotlight:  Pastor Jerry Lawson 

 

The Reverend Jerrald Lawson was born in San Jose, California. He served in the United States Air Force for nine years. He graduated from the University of Maryland and Utica College with bachelor degrees in English and Social Studies. After working in public relations in the San Francisco he attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne where he was awarded the Master of Divinity in 2001.

Pastor Lawson before accepting the call to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, he served Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Myers since graduating from Concordia Seminary in 2001.

Pastor Lawson has been married to his wife Patricia (nee’ Diaz) since 1986. Patricia is a registered nurse who specializes in wound care. They have three children Cosette (10), Juliette (8), and Aleksander (5).

Text Box: Hello, It is the beginning of a new school year and we are off running. We opened the doors for 5K-9th on the fourteenth of August. On the twenty-third, the 2K-4K (VPK) joined us. I am pleased to say we began the year with 196 students. That is twenty-six more than this time last year. Of course we will loose some and gain some over the next few weeks. We continue to try to improve our outreach by offering the National School Lunch Program this year. This enables us to offer a free or reduced breakfast and lunch to families who fall within certain economic guidelines. In this tough economic times, it is a wonderful opportunity to know that several children are eating two healthy meals on the days they are in school. Last year we served a total of about three breakfasts a week. This year we are serving about twenty-two per day! Our first PTL meeting is September 2nd. At that time the officers for the 2010-2011 school year will be elected. It is their task then to set up the calendar for the new year. I am sure they will have many activities which will be enjoyable to both the church and school members. We look forward to seeing many of yur faces in our happy halls this year.
