Greetings from Parish Education

 

The Board of Parish Education has been in the planning stages for quite some time now.  Many of the new and exciting plans are now in motion. Our 2010/2011 board members are Kellie McIntosh, Kandice Cappello, Donna Jekel, Pastor Jerry, and yours truly.

 

This month a long awaited Youth committee was formed, yippee!  I am pleased and excited to introduce our new Youth Committee, Drum roll please…. Leader - Kellie McIntosh, Members - Heather Bonsall, Pattie Lawson, Janet Goetz, and Billie Klock.

 

These fine (and brave) women will be developing a youth program for children ages 5 years through teens. The group will meet one Sunday a month and is open to all children. We encourage everyone to spread the word, invite children of family, friends, and neighbors to attend.

 

Youth Group

 

A youth kick off event will be held Sunday September 26. The theme is Messy Food Games. Similar to water games such as water balloons and slip n slides except “water” is replaced with “messy foods.” Yes, you read it correctly water replaced with food… slip n slide Jell-O and pudding balloons to name a few!  Mark your calendar for this event and plan on a visit too; it is going to be a marvelously messy, fun event. More information on our youth program, events, and volunteer opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks.

 

Kidz Church

In May, the board began a restructuring of Kidz Church resulting in Pastor Jerry delivering the children’s message each week, followed by a craft/activity time to reinforce the message. 

 

Janet, Pattie, and Billie organized a Kidz Church outing to reward the children who attended faithfully this summer. The children went bowling at Bowland in Cape Coral on Aug 8, 2010. Everyone had a blast and the kids did not want the day to end. Relationships are being built on a Christ centered foundation. This added fuel to the already brewing youth plans. Way to go Janet, Pattie, and Billie!

 

 

 

 

 

Nursery

With so many little ones attending each Sunday Kidz Church will be held in the cafeteria. The nursery will be available beginning Sunday August 22^nd.  Volunteers are needed.

 

 

 

 

 

First Communion & Confirmation

Pastor Jerry will be holding First Communion classes Wednesday, September 29 after school and October 3 for those who can not make the Wednesday class. First Communion students will be encouraged to serve as acolytes. Confirmation Classes will begin in January 2011.
